A Quick Poser

I have been thinking a lot recently about the superhero The Flash (aka The Scarlet Speedster aka That Really Fast Bastard) and what I don't comprehend is how the Flash can run at the speed of light. For elementary relativity theory tells us that as objects approach the speed of light, their mass increases to infinity. And yet there is no evidence that when the Flash accelerates he becomes some infinitely heavy person (eg Oprah). Are we to believe that the Flash is some retro-Newtonian construct who has inexplicably found himself in an Einsteinian space-time setup? I think we will all agree on the implausibility of that particular scenario. And yet, how else can we explain the Flash's existence? It is a puzzle.
