When The Beatles sang ‘I’d like to be… under the sea’ did they consider the fact that they had no gills and would therefore certainly drown to death if they plumped for such a submerged existence? Did they at any stage confront the reality that a lifestyle based solely on an underwater existence would inevitably leave them gasping desperately for air, lungs bursting as the futile quest for oxygen proved impossible and their lives gasped to a hideous, desperate end? Answer: Yes, they did. A little known lost verse confronted these very issues but was later cut in order to annoy Ringo.
