Here's a handy tip: if you get invited to a 'black tie' function, be very, very wary. Because even if you show up with your black tie on, you won't necessarily get in. Apparently you are supposed to wear pants as well, despite the fact that this was not mentioned at all on the invitation, anywhere. Also, you must wear your tie around your neck. So many rules. That's the last high society function I go to... or at least that's what the bouncer assured me.
