The Henson Decree
INTERESTING FACT: The smash hit TV show Fraggle Rock was inspired by Shakespeare's Play 'Othello'. Apparently, the great playwright originally toyed with giving Othello's wife the name 'Boober', before eventually settling on the 'less sultry' handle of 'Desdemona'. In early versions of the TV show, Iago Fraggle manipulated the Gorgs, Doozers and even his fellow Fraggles into weekly mass homicides. This approach was abandoned following Jim Henson's decree that 'muppets do not bleed' which rather took all the fun out of things.
