Opening Credits
Who??? If you don't know who any of these people are, you clearly need a scorecard.
Opening credit sequences can be tricky beasts. Ostensibly a simple exercise in introducing the cast, a good opening credit sequence should be so much more. It should set the tone for the show, establish a connection between the characters and the viewer and, ideally, secure a chart-topping position for the song in question.
The Smallville credits just about get there. After the weekly opening teaser sequence, we invariably burst forth with a glorious montage of key Smallville images and character portraits that make even the most jaded Smallville viewer sit up and pay attention or, if not, certainly put the kettle on with a spring in one's step.
As for the song in question, Remy Zero's Save Me may not have cracked the Top 20 anywhere other than the Czech republic, but, heck, they do an almost perfect imitation of the U2 sound so that's got to count for something in this post-Zooropa age. Why not download a (legal, of course) mp3 version of the song and bop around the house pretending you have Tom Welling's cheekbones? It's certainly one way to spend an afternoon.
