Tom Cochrane
Perhaps the most disappointing thing about Tom Cochrane's smash hit single Life Is A Highway is that Tom fails to go into sufficient scientific detail about his radical bio-freeway hypothesis. If life truly is a highway as Tom so audaciously proposes, how do we reconcile this with prevailing theories of neo-Darwinism such as Dawkins' selfish gene theory?
No, until Tom clears this fundamental incompatibility up (or at the very least explains why it is that well over 90% of living creatures don't have cars driving all over them) I'm afraid his revolutionary organic motorway proposal must be discounted.
A shame, because the song's as catchy as buggery, a quality sadly lacking in most fields of science.
Begone,
