Superfriends
I was watching an old episode of The Superfriends on the Cartoon Channel last night. Because why else does one have Pay-TV? And it was the usual exhilarating brand of nonsense. At one point Wonder Woman and a random sheriff were captured by a giant mechanical cobra that a Texan had built in order to turn coals into diamonds. A common enough turn of events. I've experienced many such days myself.
So Superman and The Atom flew to the rescue and somehow their path in the mine was blocked by one of the giant diamonds that the Texan-built giant mechanical cobra™ had spewed forth. Superman didn't hesitate to use his heat vision to burn his way through the diamond. Which got me wondering: does Superman decide to some days just focus on his lesser-known powers to keep himself interested? Because he's spoilt for choice, isn't he? Confronted by a giant diamond blocking his path, I have no doubt that the Man of Steel could have just as easily a) punched the bloody thing to oblivion, b) flown over the top of it, c) used his x-ray vision to find a more sensible path to the villain in the first place, d) used his goddamn super-breath to blow the thing away or e) put on some glasses and written an expose about the diamond to be published in the Daily Planet. But apparently, Mondays are Heat Vision day. And fair enough too.
Also, do you think that if, say, Aquaman hit on Wonder Woman that she might say 'Gee, Aquey, that's sweet. But I think it'd be better if we decided to be just good friends.' And do you think she might then pause and say 'Or should I say 'Just good Superfriends''
And do you think that if she did say that, Aquaman would smack her upside the head?
Begone,
