Murder One
Just got the DVD set of the first season of Murder One, the early 1990s television show about a celebrity convicted of, I dunno, inventing the Atkins diet or some damn thing. I have, almost inevitably, been watching it closely, wallowing in the nostalgia of it all.
It holds up well - even with its tendency to go mildly LA Law on the viewer every now and then. As always, however, the indisputable highlight of any legally based entertainment is the use of the phrase 'withdrawn'.
Lawyer One: "Your honour, can I respectfully suggest that the defendant is a venomous reptile deserving of our unfettered disgust and beheading."
Lawyer Two: "Objection!"
Lawyer One: "Withdrawn"
Marvellous. Almost makes one want to be a lawyer. Yes, it's that seductive.
Begone,
