Memento
Fact! The smash hit film Memento originally focussed on a man trying to solve a mystery despite suffering from crippling hair loss. But after Guy Pearce fell in love with his dyed blonde hair on the first day of the shoot, he immediately proposed the hair loss angle be replaced by that of memory loss. One quick rewrite (and a misconfigured printer that reversed the printed page order of the screenplay) later and voila! Instant critical acclaim.
It would, however, be wrong to assume Mr Pearce and his malfunctioning HP Laserjet were the sole driving forces behind the movie's success. For example, his suggestion to change his character's name from Leonard to Blondie Von Memoryloss was (rightly) dismissed.
