I think all of rock fandom stand united as one in its whole-fisted approval of the ascension of JD Fortune to the role of lead singer of INXS. If there's a superior replacement for Michael Hutchence than JD, then reality television was not able to find him. And that's good enough for me. (And, indeed, as alluded to earlier this paragraph, good enough for all of rock fandom.)
However, the INXSters didn't have it all their own way in procuring the services of Monsignor Fortune. According to deniable sources, JD had originally agreed to act as a replacement for a completely different act, before negotiations broke down.
Shame, really. For as much as I enjoy his INXS work, there will always be a part of me constantly craving just a taste of what would have been jd lang.
