Heroes (Chapter Two)
Watched the Heroes Season Two finale last night.
Let me see if I've got everybody's character arc straight:
Claire: Defied her father on every level, joining the cheer squad, flaunting her powers, falling in love with a douchebag, cutting off her toe, losing a car, indirectly getting him shot and commandeering a funeral despite his express orders not to do any of those things
HRG: Teamed up with Mohinder (!). Murdered a random Russian. Got shot in the eye. Got better. Walked out on his family.
Matt: Moved in with Mohinder. Drove his pseudo-daughter into a coma by mucking about with her mind. Vowed never to do it again. Used her as a puppet while honing his Jedi mind-trick powers. At the crucial moment, Jedi powers proved 100% ineffectual.
Molly: Spent a lot of time in a coma. When she wasn't in a coma, made us all wish she was.
Micah: Spent no time in a coma. Moved in with his grandmother and cousins. Punched his non-powered cousin in the face. Encouraged his powered cousin to rescue his comic book collection from comic book-stealing street toughs. Encouraged his mother to sacrifice her life to rescue his cousin (+ comics) from blaze started by comic book-stealing, arsonist street toughs.
Monica: Discovered she could replicate any activity she saw being performed. Yet at no point did she take the time to watch somebody escape a burning building without killing their aunt in the process.
DL: Became a heroic fireman. Died before he could pass on any tricks of the trade to his missus.
Niki: Got rid of all her powers. Then decided to be a hero.
Hiro: Spent a lot of time in 17th Century Japan. Befriended and trained his childhood hero, then cuckolded him for the hell of it. Returned to the present to stop him from unleashing a deadly virus and succeeded with seconds to spare (as opposed to going back in time, say, a year and avoiding the stress).
Ando: Watched Hiro's father die. Then read a sword.
Kensei/Adam: Discovered he could live forever. Decided to show off by killing off everybody else. Ended up buried alive in a coffin, via a set of events I cannot imagine and which were never shown.
Nathan: Grew a beard. Shaved it off. Wrestled with Matt. Flew to Texas. Talked sense to his brother. Got himself shot.
Peter: Lost his memory. Woke up in Ireland. Decided to become a criminal. Fell in love with a girl. Took her to a dystopian future. Forgot to bring her back. Rather than go back and rescue her, decided to join forces with the main villain. Eventually nuked the virus, causing it to mutate into who knows what.
Bob: Turned a spoon into gold. Did nothing but dote on Mohinder and Elle thereafter.
Elle: Crackled with electrical madness. Yet didn't seem to realise that water and electricity don't mix. Damn The Company home schooling curriculum! Run, Claire run!
The Haitian: Made everybody forget he was in the show.
Maya and Alejandro: Hmmm?
Sylar: Spent the entire season without powers. Still managed to kill four (4) people, including an assumed babysitter killing. Sure, Maya got better, but all in all not a bad effort. Since everybody in the show has the same blood type, ended the season with full powers restored.
Mohinder: At no point wore a singlet.
Roll on Chapter Three!
