He-Man and the Masters of the Universe
For many years a number of things have troubled me about He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. And when I say 'number', I mean, of course, the number one (1) (long renowned as 'the loneliest number that you'll ever see'). This one thing that troubles me? The mantra that converts that numbskull Prince Adam to that (more shirtless) numbskull He-Man. "By the power of Greyskull, I have the power". What kind of incantation is that? It's sloppy, sloppy writing, what with the double usage of the word 'power' in there. Would it have been so hard for the writers to have him say, for example, "By the forces of Greyskull, I have the power"? Or "By the power of Greyskull, I have no shirt"?
Still, as wiser people than me have noted in private correspondence, it could be worse. They could have had him say "By the power of Greyskull, I have the power of Greyskull".
Begone,
