Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Watched Ferris Bueller last night. Of course, it is an all-time classic movie. Few other films in history have managed to embrace such diverse elements as talking to the camera, the song Danke Schoen and the destruction of a Ferrari with as much panache as Ferris Bueller's Day Off. (It is alleged that an early cut of The Godfather: Part 2 attempted it, but couldn't quite pull it off.)
Perhaps the best demonstration of the sheer brilliance of Ferris Bueller is the fact that the movie can get away with one of the most outrageous casting efforts ever made - namely, Charlie Sheen as a purveyor of wisdom and sense. A truly magnificent feat.
