Sir Elton John

Consider the lyrics to the chorus of the smash hit single Circle of Life performed by Mr Elton John, lyrics Tim Rice:

In the Circle of Life
It's the wheel of fortune,
It's the leap of faith,
It's the band of hope

Am I the only eagle-eared listener who, upon hearing these lyrics, is overwhelmed with a 'one of these things is not like the other' moment?

Circles, wheels, bands and... leaps? Come on, Sir Tim. You can do better than that. Why not 'the oval of faith'? Or 'the ellipsoid of devotion'? The 'ring of gumption'? 'Egg of stoutheartedness'? 'Loop of pluck'? 'Locus of all points on a plane equidistant from a fixed point of benovelence'?

So many options superior to your shamefully mismatched 'leap'.

Compare this to the smash hit single Kiss The Bride, also performed by Mr John, but with lyrics by Senor Bernie Taupin:

I wanna kiss the bride yeah!
I wanna kiss the bride yeah!
Long before she met him
She was mine, mine, mine
Dont say I do
Say bye, bye, bye
And let me kiss the bride yeah!

And I think it's obvious in whose hands Sir Elton's lyrical future should rest.

Painfully obvious.

Begone,

Indy
