Duets
Duets. Like me, you were probably under the impression that this movie was ninety-odd minutes of mindless pap, centred around Huey Lewis training young Gwyneth Paltrow in the mystical ways of karaoke, with the pair of them slowly (but oh so surely) climbing their way up the ladder of the world karaoke circuit, to ultimate, toe-tapping glory. The Karaoke Kid, if you will.
You, like me, probably thought it would be inane and pointless, but essentially harmless. You almost certainly would not have dreamed that by casting your idle gaze to a television screen broadcasting this little flick last Sunday afternoon that you would, in fact, be exposing your unprepared primary senses to the single most bowel-cringingly vomitous road movie ever to be excreted onto celluloid.
(Little known fact that in no sense redeems the film: The title of the movie is an anagram of Huey Lewis's MySpace name ('e-stud')!)
