Chuck Berry
Today, I would like to discuss Johnny B. Goode. In particular, I'd like to discuss the fact that, according to the lyrics, he 'could play a guitar just like a-ringing a bell'.
Ponder that for a second, if you would. What Chuck is saying here is that Mr Goode strummed his guitar in such a fashion that it reminded his audience of somebody clanging incessantly on a bell.
Now, having considered that fact, hands up who thinks that when the folks 'deep down in Louisiana, close to New Orleans' urged Johnny to 'Go! Go, Johnny, go, go, go!', that they were being very literal indeed?
Okay. Yes. All of you. I thought so. Thank you. As you were.
Begone,
