Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason
Here's an interesting exercise in demographics. Say you have a movie such as Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason - a movie that, without perpetuating ghastly stereotypes, tends to appeal more to those humans that have a uterus than those that lack same. What films might you expect to feature in the previews? My Girl 4? I Am Sandra Bullock, Hear Me Roar? Waiting To Exhale Some More?
Yes, you might think. They're precisely the kind of films I'd expect. Nothing else would prove as satisfactory.
And you'd be wrong. Because the movie that was previewed prior to Bridget Jones was that renowned chick flick, Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith.
Now either the cinema owners decided to throw a bone to the poor guys who've been dragged along to witness the antics of Miss Renee Zellweger (y'know to avoid the otherwise inevitable rioting) or George Lucas has made the startling decision that the Jedi Knights should adopt the fighting style used by Hugh Grant and Colin Firth in the Bridget Jones flick.
Unorthodox decisions. Exciting results.
Begone,
