George Bush Says 'My Son's Not Dumb'

Filed: Friday, December 15, 2000
Former US President George Bush has come out in defence of his son, President-Elect George W. Bush. "He's nowhere near as stupid as most people think," said the elder Bush. "Nor," he added, "is he the unstoppable coke-head that he is sometimes portrayed as being."
"He's just a simple man with simple beliefs."
The former President went on to point out that George W Bush was a different person to him and that if his son did make any critical, highly stupid errors while in office, people should try and remember that just because they have the same name, that doesn't mean they're the same person.
The President-Elect confirmed this and pointed out that he has an extra letter in his name. "The one like an upside-down 'M'. So people shouldn't get mixed up."
He then demonstrated another difference, emitting a Xena war-cry and pointing out that "Dad can't do that, either", a claim that the elder Bush confirmed.
