Gadget Gone Wrong

I was watching Inspector Gadget 2 last night (not 100% certain why butI’m thinking alcohol was almost certainly involved) and it occurred tome that the Child Welfare people that decided to leave Penny with her”Uncle” Gadget really should be investigated.

I mean, this is just gross incompetence of the highest order. Who ismanaging this case!? For a start, what happened to Penny’s parents?Has this ever been made clear? Does Penny not have grandparents or someother distant relative who is not made of metal.

Secondly, is it common practise for children to be left with roboticrelatives if parents are no longer fit to look after their children? And let’s look into that a bit further. Not only is “Uncle” Gadget arobot but he appears to be badly defective. Gadgets just seem to go offfor absolutely no reason. This has to be dangerous. How much longerdoes Penny have to remain under this malfunctioning android’s controlbefore an accident occurs. Surely it’s only a matter of time until thatsledge hammer that he keeps in his hat short circuits and gives the girlsome form of serious head trauma.

And to top it all off, the man is a spy! I mean, come on people. How much danger is this poor girl in with an uncle like that. OK, sure, she has Brains as back-up, but he’s not going to do much good if Clawwants to send “Uncle” Gadget a warning is he? No. Penny will wake upwith poor ol’ Brains head in the bed beside her.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m all for the adoption process and I’m noteven really opposed to children being raised by robots but where I drawthe line is when innocent children are placed into the care ofmalfunctioning spy robots. That’s just wrong.
