Dear Dr Dan,
Why do cats always land on their feet?
-- Feline Fanatic
Dear Feline Fanatic
It is a little known fact that every living creature (yes, that includes
the cast of Friends), always land on their feet. Latest
medical research indicates that 'skin' is merely an enormous number of tiny
little feet the size of ants (except on ants, obviously, where the feet are
much, much smaller).
Cats however, don't have 'skin' made of feet and are therefore forced to land on their normal everyday feet. Interestingly, an evolutionary quirk means that a cat's skin can consist of almost anything - paper clips, lozenges or very small versions of Daryl Hannah. Hence, the well known phrase, there is more than one way to skin a cat. I hope that helps.
