Heroes (Chapter One)

What has become clear to those with the common sense and single-minded determination to open their souls to its magnificence is that the first season of Heroes is the single finest piece of televisual fiction ever to foist itself upon us, the eternally grateful viewer. Nobody sane disputes this.
The challenge will be the second season. [...]

Duets

Duets. Like me, you were probably under the impression that this movie was ninety-odd minutes of mindless pap, centred around Huey Lewis training young Gwyneth Paltrow in the mystical ways of karaoke, with the pair of them slowly (but oh so surely) climbing their way up the ladder of the world karaoke circuit, to ultimate, [...]

One Bullet
As a big game hunter of some (eg ‘no’) experience, I can confirm that the most feared animal to have in one’s sights is not a lion. Nor is it a grizzly bear or a rhino or Paris Hilton. No, the most fearsome animal we stalk is the Giant Snail of South America. Because, heck, [...]

Pluots
While lazing about on holiday the last few days, I was introduced to an exciting new hybrid fruit. It’s a combination of a plum and an apricot, and it goes by the startling hybrid name of ‘pluot’. You may think that’s a terrible name for a fruit, but, on the other hand, the alternative was ‘apricum’.

Ripper
Most people pooh-pooh the antics of Jack the Ripper and his incessant slaughtering of Whitechapel prostitutes. But has anybody else considered the possibility that his actions were simply a justified and long-sighted pre-emptive strike against the movie Pretty Woman?

Dear Dr Dan,
I have been with my bf for 2 years but still constantly think about my ex– even though at the end of that relationship, he treated me like crap. What should I do?

I assume that by ‘treated me like crap’, you mean that he used [...]
