Smallville Extra: I Hate Lana Lang

Funny, isn’t it, how a character previously unseen can go from not at all hated to universally loathed by all sane viewers within one hundred short episodes. Or, if not funny, certainly very tedious and stupid indeed.

Let’s see how Lana went from reasonably likable to an object of hatred and scorn, huh?

Highlights and Lowlights of the First 100 Episodes

There are numerous periods where Lana grew slowly more and more worthy of one’s loathing (see Season 4 for example), but there are some specific points where she made huge strides worthy of extra despising. The graph above shows those points. And, to be fair, it also shows those few points where she pegged back the loathing somewhat. We are nothing if not fair when it comes to our venomous hatred.

Of course, she continued to do loathsome things after episode 100, but once you’re maximally loathed, there’s nowhere else to go…
