The Watchmen Files: Introduction
Watchmen, by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, is considered by many people to be the greatest superhero comic book ever written. Well, we’ll just see about that, shall we?
There’s twelve issues in total and The Watchmen Files will cover them all in the usual fashion.
- Boy That’s Funny
- Flashback… What A Feeling!
- Megasmurf Bugs Out
- The Secret Origin Of Megasmurf
- Splotchface Unsplotched
- The Secret Origin Of Splotchey
- Captain Pudgey And Bimbo Lass Get It On
- Splotchey Breaks Out!
- The Secret Origin Of Bimbo Lass
- Hurm
- The Secret Origin Of Lord Smartypants
- The Grand Finale
(Also, check out my detailed and watchful analyses of the Watchmen movie character posters – Nite Owl, Dr Manhattan, The Comedian, Ozymandias, Rorschach and fanboy favourite and yowsers-inducing, Silk Spectre. Or, if you prefer, read my review of the Watchmen movie.)
A few warnings: if you haven’t read the book, then this is going to make absolutely no sense to you whatsoever. (Heck, it’s highly likely to not make sense even for those who have read it.) If you don’t own a copy, there’s a handy link there to order one. If you do own a copy and haven’t read it yet, read it. Come on people, do I have to spell everything out for you?
Note: I also have other comic book reviews if you’re so inclined.
Finally, The Watchmen Files does not purport to be a haven of accuracy or detail – quite the reverse in fact. If you’re looking for a panel-by-panel breakdown and serious analysis of it all then I heartily recommend these Watchmen Annotations. But if you’re looking for an analysis that recognises the smurflike qualities of Doc Manhattan, then look no further, ’cause you’ve found The Watchmen Files…
